Remembering Ancestral Land Based Wellness, April 5th, 2019

Join Shiloh Maples and Shane Bernardo in this participatory session at the Michigan Racial Equity in the Food System Summit that will make deep connections between ancestral lands and food traditions. The legacy of colonialism throughout our existing food system has alienated many people from land based wellness, spirituality, and sense of belonging. By sharing our stories and reconnecting to those land-based practices, we can find healing for ourselves and envision a more equitable food system. This framework will encourage attendees to retrace their food traditions in relation to their own ancestral homelands.
